Historical Background:
Giuseppe Castino with his wife Margherita Cleretti, descendant of a famous family of pastry chefs, purchased the old Fabbre confectionery in 1925, founded in 1845. Around the 1930s, Castino gave birth, at the behest of Princess Iolanda of Savoy, to one of his creations, which has become, together with panettone, the symbolic dessert of Pinerolo: the Torta Zurigo-Castino, garnished with chocolate flakes and cherries.
Curiosity:
Countess Sofia Cacherano di Bricherasio, last descendant of the family and owner of Miradolo Castle until 1950, the year of her death, also loved frequenting the place for her tasty purchases.
